DOE Stagehand Job

A DOE Stagehand supports the Crew Chief and Production Coordinators with the labor for an event through assembling basic structures and loading / moving equipment around site, among other miscellaneous tasks.
All stagehands must have a clean professional appearance and a strong work ethic, as well as the ability to work individually and in teams, follow direction, and take initiative.
Tasks may include:
• Loading and unloading equipment and materials from trucks.
• Setting up pipe and drape. • Setting up and striking decks, staging, flats, truss, and a/v equipment. • Assisting carpenters in building, assembling, and installing scenery.
• Building a truss rig, hanging lights and audio arrays, running DMX cable, and assembling scenic structures.
• Moving and rearranging furniture. • Operating specialized audio, lighting, video and rigging equipment. Skills / Qualifications:
• Must be able to life and move 75+ lbs. • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time through all hours ofthe day.
• Work cooperatively on a team and take direction from crew leads and production team.
• Knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools (i.e. hammer, box-cutter)
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts as needed.
• Wear black apparel free of logos as well as closed toed shoes. When required, will wear hi-vis vests at all times.
• Theatrical, AV, Lighting, Rigging, or Sound experience not required, but should have basic knowledge.
• Must have a personal tool kit. All Stagehands will be required to provide the following tools for every shift worked:
• Hammer • C wrench • Pliers (needle nose or slip lock or channel lock)
• Tape measure • Knife/box cutter/leatherman
• Screw gun with batteries and a charger • Impact gun
• Phillips tips preferably with a magnetic tip sleeve
• Socket adapter with 9/16, 1/2, and 7/16 sockets for 1/4 in, 5/16 in and 3/8 in hex bolts and nuts
• Ratchet or open box wrenches in the same sizes as the sockets above
• Diagonal cutters (dikes)
• Flashlight/head lamp
• Pry bar
• A square or combo square
