Welds metal parts on a production line, using previously set up a gas or arc-welding equipment. Use a TIG welding machine to fabricate standard and custom product(s) through written or verbal direction
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Turns valves to release fuel gas and oxygen and ignites mixture or inserts specified weld rod into the portable holder, clamps cable onto workpiece or jig, and strike arc.
Guides electrodes, or torch and filler rod, at a specified speed and angle to melt and deposit metal from filler rod or electrode onto the workpiece.
May skip (tack) weld designated spots to secure workpieces for other welders.
Fabricate and maintain JIGS for the product(s) in accordance with written or verbal directions.
Fabricate standard and custom product(s) in accordance with written and verbal directives.
Proficient in the use of oxygen/acetylene torch kit.
Always maintain a clean and safe work area.
Responsible to adhere to all TOMCAT health and safety rules and regulations including the use of mandatory safety and equipment guides.
Assist the Lead Welder and Assistant Production Managers as directed.
Responsible for maintaining quality in all aspects of projects worked on.
Responsible for turning in an accurate daily productivity report.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
One year of technical school and/or two years of related experience.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Ability to pass a skills test using aluminum TIG and MIG process.
Ability to read and understand calipers, protractors, tape measures both standard and metric, and other measuring devices.
The ability to work overtime is a requirement.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to work rotating shifts, on a continuous seven-day work cycle.
Lifting up to 50 pounds, team lifting when necessary.
Sitting, standing, and walking.
welding plant, air, and electric hand tools (drills, saws, grinders, etc.), and basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, files, etc.).
