The largest concert touring social network of color in the world? is about to tear it up with their spotlight series & yours truly is totally honored to host!!

We decided to start the series by spotlighting some of our female industry professionals. Three of which were recently featured in a PLSN Article “Women of Color Address Diversity in the Workplace” courtesy of PLSN staff writer Mike Wharton. https://plsn.com/articles/tech-talk-current-issue/women-of-color-address-diversity-in-the-workplace/.

Working in the Concert Touring industry can be tough and challenging. It can be even more so as a female working in the industry. So we wanted to get a female interactive prospective of what it is like being in the Concert Touring Industry and share that prospective with our audience.

Featured in the PLSN article were:

Salinda Walker
Salinda Walker’s professional career started as a definite trial by fire. After Walker earned a degree in sound engineering at Columbia College in Chicago, a friend got her a job as an unpaid intern at local sound company, Sound of Authority.
Gabi Parra
Gabriela (Gabi) Parra currently works with David “5-1” Norman with their company Tour Forensics. She began her career as student, working on the venue side doing everything from working as a ticket taker and usher to stagehand and runner for shows.

“Winning the first-ever Lenny award with ROCU! Lenny meant a lot to me personally, and being recognized for my hard work meant so much. “

Rebekah Foster
Rebekah Foster was seemingly born to this. Her father, Rev. Wendell Foster, was a civil rights activist, supporting black theater productions by the Negro Ensemble Company and other organizations as an extension of his ministry. An actor and writer in his early years, he stayed involved with theater throughout his life. Her mother exposed Rebekah to different types of music, taking her to the Apollo Theater on Fridays and matinee operas on Saturdays. “Thus, my involvement in music and arts was a natural evolution,” moving, specifically, to her role as an audio engineer.

“Tony Bullock choosing me as his assistant TM on The Whitney Houston South Africa Tour. Being able to be there for that tour was amazing. My dad was a Pastor and civil rights activist. He was fighting against apartheid since the 60’s. For me to touch the soul of SA before him was humbling. “

Geeta Khanna
Geeta Khanna had never worked in the live entertainment business a single day before her first professional gig as production assistant for a Ne-Yo tour in Japan in 2010. Her journey is an example of being at the right place at the right time and, most importantly, working hard once the opportunity presented itself.

” As a Tour Manager with Creative Production Partners, I have traveled the world with some of the greatest legacy groups in pop music, including The Jacksons & TLC. As well as new talent like Cardi B’s first international tours in Australia/New Zealand and a summer European Tour”

Liselle Bertrand Who has been touring for ten years now and is one of the best camera operators in the business.

Liselle Bertrand Is our Roadies Of Color United Professional of the month of November 2020 and was recently featured in Theatre Art Life Magazine Courtesy of Staff writhe Liam Klenk. https://www.theatreartlife.com/technical/camera-woman-liselle-bertrand-roadies-of-color-united/.

“AS A CAMERA OPERATOR I’M PROUD TO SAY:- I’ve worked on 5 tours with Jay Z, 2 Tours with Rihanna – Diamonds World Tour and Anti World Tour, The OTR II Tour/Global Citizen Celebration for Nelson Mandela’s 100th Birthday in South Africa, Beyoncé’s Coachella live and Grammy award winning film Homecoming on Netflix”

This is must see event. We hope you will tune in and show your support.
